Under the Strawberry Moon: Sweetness, Abundance, and the Longest Light

Monday evening, as the sun dips below the horizon and the sky deepens into night, the Strawberry Full Moon will rise.

This June full moon—the seventh full moon of 2026—reaches its peak at 7:57 pm EST on June 29th. It comes just a week after the Summer Solstice, when the sun stood at its zenith and the light lingered longer than any other night. The moon answers with its own fullness.

Why Strawberry?

The name has nothing to do with the moons color. It comes from the Algonquin peoples and other First Nations —Ojibwe, Dakota, and Lakota—who marked this moon as the signal that wild strawberries were ready to harvest. For many communities this was a seasonal marker, a reminder that the earth was offering its sweetness. It is a time to gather, to give thanks, to tast the abundance that only comes when something that has been allowed to fully ripen.

The Season of Ripening

There is something special about fruit that asks you to wait. Strawberries are not like apples or winter squash—they do not store well, they do not travel far. They are brief. They ripen quickly, and they must be enjoyed in their moment.

The Strawberry Moon reminds us that abundance is not always about quantity. Sometimes it is about timing. About being present when the sweetness arrives. About having the patience to let things grow, and the wisdom to gather them when they are ready.

This is the season of ripening—not just in the garden, but in our lives.

What has been growing quietly in your life? What is ready to be harvested? What sweetness are you being called to taste, to share, and to honor?

Celebrating with Sweetness

This full moon falls in the sign of Capricorn, a time to reflect on your work, your dreams, and the structures your are building. It is a moment to draw a line, to acknowledge what you have accomplished, and to recommit to what matters.

Taste something sweet. A fresh strawberry, a slice of watermelon, or a spoonful of honey. Or my favorite Strawberry Shortcake. Let the sweetness remind you that joy is not a luxury—it is a harvest.

Give thanks. To the earth, to the ancestors, to the ones who planted seeds you are now harvesting.

A Thread to Carry Forward

This season of light and ripening is at the heart of Stitching the Sun: The Granddaughters of Hathor. In the book, the women tend the Root Psalm; the vast living mycelial network that pulses beneath the earth—patient, abundant, and always remembering. They understand that healing like a strawberry, cannot be rushed. It must be allowed to ripen in its own time.

If you are ready to carry that thread forward, I invite you to pre-order Stitching the Sun. Part memoir, part visionary fiction, these stories are not predictions. They are invitations. They are threads toward a future worth inhabiting.

Pre-order now and receive a digital sample to begin your adventure with the Granddaughters.

Under the Strawberry Moon, may you taste the sweetness of all you have grown. May you trust the timing of your own ripening. And may you remember: the ancestors are still listening.

Blessings,
