đż A Season of Rooted Workshops: Join Us at Rising Rooted This Summer
There is a rhythm to the seasonsâa quiet pulse that invites us to slow down, to learn, to gather. At Rising Rooted, we believe that healing is not a destination but a practice. And this season, we have curated a collection of workshops designed to help you root into that practiceâthrough your hands, your voice, your body, and your memory.
Each workshop is an invitation. An offering. A thread in the tapestry of a life lived with intention.
Here is what we have planned.
đ§ Survive the First 7 Days: Herbal Preparedness & Zombie Survival Workshop
Saturday, July 4, 2026 (SOLD OUT! Recording will be available)
The world ends. Then it begins again. This is not just a game. This is a realâworld survival workshop wrapped in a fun, zombieâthemed package. Learn how to find clean water, secure shelter, work as a team, and stay calm under pressure. No experience needed.
What Youâll Take Home: A personal survival plan, a small emergency kit, and a deeper understanding of how communities survive crisis.
"Survival is not about being the strongest. It is about being the most preparedâand the most willing to help."
đž The Women's Whisperer: Herbal Workshop
Plants are not resourcesâthey are relatives. They choose. They teach. In this workshop, you will explore the herbs that have supported Black women's bodies for generations: Vitex (the women's whisperer), hibiscus, red raspberry leaf, nettle, and rose. You will create your own custom hormonal support tea blend and learn the stories behind each plant.
"Vitex does not work quickly. It works faithfully. That is the covenant of patience."
What Youâll Take Home: A custom herbal tea blend (2â4 oz), a recipe zine, and a small muslin bag of okra seedsâsymbol of resilience.
𧔠Stitching Memory: QuiltâCode & Embroidery Workshop
Saturday, August 1, 2026 (recording will be available)
Before there were written records, there was thread. Enslaved women stitched maps of escape, coded warnings, and the names of the dead into fabric. Quiltâcode patternsâLog Cabin, Flying Geese, Drunkard's Pathâcarried messages that white enslavers could not read.
In this halfâday workshop, you will learn the grammar of stitches (running, chain, satin), explore the hidden language of quiltâcode, and create a small handâembroidered memory square to take home. No sewing experience needed. Just your hands and an open heart.
"The needle became an extension of my hand, the thread a line connecting me to every woman in my lineage who had pulled a needle through cloth and called it survival."
What Youâll Take Home: A 5â embroidered memory square, a stitchâpattern zine, and a needle threaded with intention.
đ Indigo Workshop: Stamp, Dip, Witness the Blue
Saturday, August 15, 2026 (recording will be made available)
Indigo is more than a color. It is memory made visible. In this workshop, you will learn traditional West African block printing, use handâcarved wooden stamps to apply cassava paste resist, and dip 100% cotton into a living indigo vat. You will watch your design emerge from pale green to deep blue before your eyes.
This is not just a craft. It is a practice. The ancestors are still listening.
"Indigo stains the hands. Let it remind you who you came from."
What Youâll Take Home: Two handâstamped, indigoâdyed bandanas (or one scarf), a care card, and a deeper connection to the book.
đŠ The Shoebox Covenant: A Workshop on Dignity, Resilience, and Black Travel History
Saturday, August 29, 2026
Before the Green Book, before the Civil Rights Act, there was the shoebox. This workshop honors the resourcefulness of Black travelers who packed dignity in a box. You will learn the history, taste classic shoebox foods, and pack your own modern shoebox meal kit.
"We will not be refused. We will not be forgotten."
What Youâll Take Home: A decorated shoebox with historical notes, a recipe card, and a list of key figures in Black travel history.
đ§đżââïž The Kemetic Teken Sequence: Yoga Workshop
Saturday, September 20, 2025
Mildred started each morning with the Teken Sequence. Now you can too. In this workshop, you will learn the foundation of Kemetic Yoga: the Rule of Four Breathing, the TeKken Pose for energy channel opening, and a gentle, spinalâaligning sequence of geometric postures.
Designed for beginners yet rich with depth for experienced practitioners, this class emphasizes releasing tension, circulating life force (Ankh), and awakening inner spiritual awareness.
"Kemetic Yoga is not about how deep you can bend. It is about how deeply you can breatheâand how quietly you can listen."
What Youâll Take Home: A printed Teken Sequence guide, a Rule of Four breath card, and an ankh or sistrum sticker.
đ” The Frequency of Joy: Sound & Toning Workshop
Coming this Fall
Patricia woke to the sound of her own heartbeat. This was not a metaphor. In this workshop, you will learn simple vocal toning techniques, experience the 528 Hz âmiracle tone,â create a personal sound offering, and leave with a practice you can use to restore joy, release grief, and call back silence. No musical experience required. Only a willingness to make sound.
"The ancestors are still listening. And now, so are you."
What Youâll Take Home: A frequency card, a listening zine, and a small rattle or sistrum (optional upgrade).
